Morocco | A Must See

Morocco | A Must See

First of all let me preface this by saying if you go to Morocco, make sure you go with a partner because man oh man is it one hella romantic destination! I happened to know this because when on a family vacay, you tend to notice shit like that. Like oh hey these roses at this table, or wow that art in my room is stunning and all these candles and decor is just picturesque.

largest tannery in Morocco

So… Morocco, WOW! I went and did like all the things, from the beach to the desert and everything in between and it was a really intense 10 days, but so totally worth it. The first few days were spent exploring The Medina, which is exactly as you imagine it to be. INTENSE. So many people but the culture is incredible. Then you drive up a ton of mountains (I’m talking snow capped), where you get so see so many monkeys on your way to the other side of the mountain which takes you into the desert. Before that though, you must pop into the largest tannery in Morocco, located in Fez. It is definitely a sight to behold.

glamp tents in the Sahara

The part of the Sahara where I got to camp out at was in Merzouga, close to the Algerian border, where all the sand dunes are. And when I mean camp, I obvi mean GLAMPING! This was an incredible experience, I can’t imagine having HOT shower water in the middle of the desert but I was happily mistaken. Glamping at its finest done with Moroccan service, all topped of with a camel trek and sipping mint tea. This was one for the books, and something everyone should experience. The best part was probably climbing up the dunes and watching the sunrise.

And for the less adventurous, more touristy types… El Jadida has many stunning resorts. Mazagan Beach and Golf Resort was a nice way to unwind after 6 days of adventure. Waterparks, the beach, delicious cuisine and a horseback ride on the beach, everything you could want in a resort.

Another fabulous thing about Morocco is the absolutely cute riads and dars…. let me clue you in! It’s super popular to stay in one of these here, its old townhomes that have been turned into a “mini hotel” of sorts. A riad must have a garden, divided into quarters with a central fountain. A dar is a townhouse around a courtyard. These look quaint and almost dreary from the outside but when you step inside it’s like WOW… S-t-u-n-n-i-n-g.

All in all, Morocco is a MUST! Go alone, go with a loved one or go with a friend JUST GO. Stay in a riad, go to the desert, have mint tea…do it all! Put this amazing destination on your bucket list!
